How often are Congressional elections held?

Congressional elections occur every two years. The House of Representatives is entirely up for election in each two-year cycle, so members face reelection every two years. The Senate, while serving six-year terms, is staggered so only about a third of seats are up at one time, which means nationwide elections still follow a two-year cadence overall. Elections are held in November of even-numbered years, on the Tuesday after the first Monday.
